Reality hits hard

I can not manage too many things at one time.  And all work toward my goals came to a crashing halt as the crazy busy season of Christmas took hold.  I have got to figure out a way to make my health a priority but not a project, a way of life.  So needless to say I didnt go to the gym, lost track of my eating habits and supplements were random.  And then no surprise since I sabotaged my own health, now I am sick.  My asthma is in a full on flare.  I dont want to admit that I was eating a lot more bread and baked goods that there might be link in that.  Or that not getting regular sleep and exercise means that I am knock down drag out exhausted.  Lessons learned.  Next time will be different.  Today will be different.  One step, one change at a time, toward health.

Checking in

Decided not to do the gym on Monday am as that is a long stressful day.   But made it to the gym on Tuesday am for upper body.

Eating well is easily done if I pack everything in my lunch bag.  So work is easy to stick with.  Done breakfast both days this week, and that is a huge success.

Lab Results back and my thyroid antibodies are very, very high.  So with that news the new year will be started with a gluten, dairy and soy free diet.  Not sure what I will be eating yet !

One success at a time

I choose to celebrate each choice that is going to promote health.  That is what this blog is about.  A work in progress.  So right now in this moment I celebrating a chocolate peanut butter banana protein shake, as those afternoon carb cravings come crashing in.  On top of it something very stressful occurred, nothing life shattering just normal stuff.  But I am choosing a yummy protein shake instead of a carb binge.  So I am choosing to celebrate.

Success!!

I achieved an important step toward my goals today.  I took time to go to the lab for my blood draw.  Last Friday it snowed and there was traffic and it was a hassle and, and, and … whatever.  I put it on the to do list for the day and followed through.  Looking forward to getting the results back of these more detailed labs on my thyroid.

So a gold star for me regarding goal # 4- Health checks for me!!!

The “PLAN”

So the key factor in all of this is lack of motivation, drive and just plain ole laziness.  I am so tired of working hard to achieve so little that I keep giving up.

So I am going to try to set out a plan each week.  I am going to try to remember each evening to plan out the meals for the next day thus limiting food choices and keeping it simple (easier to stay on track).   I like the modified “Body for Life” plan which is easy to follow, 6 small meals of a protein and carb (and veggies too).

Starting tomorrow, new gym schedule, trying to put more time in for weights.  So far I think Saturday for upper body, Sunday for lower body, Monday for treadmill, Tuesday for upper body, Wednesday for treadmill, Thursday for lower boday, Friday treadmill and swim.

For this week, my focus will not be on the scale or how tight my jeans fits or any of that.  My focus (and my success) will be sticking to the plan.
